Najnowsza książka Melanie Harlow wpadła na mój czytnik jeszcze przed premierą i od razu musiałam ją przeczytać. I przeczytałam, a raczej połknęłam ją w jeden wieczór, żałując, że była tak krótka.

Melanie Harlow, podobnie jak Corinne Michaels pisze takie historie, jakie fanki romansów uwielbiają czytać. Lekkie, zabawne, wciągające ze szczęśliwym zakończeniem. W końcu większość kobiet marzy o szczęśliwej miłości, ukochanym mężczyźnie i o zakończeniu typu "i żyli długo i szczęśliwie".

Dobra, przechodząc do książki!

Bohaterowie to dobrze znana nam siostra Sawyer, Meg oraz Noah jej przyjaciel z dzieciństwa. Meg wraca w rodzinne strony na ślub siostry i postanawia spędzić więcej czasu z Noah, dochodząc do siebie po kolejnym z rzędu rozstaniu. Sprawy idą w, wiadomo jakim, kierunku, więc tutaj nic nie powiem więcej na temat tej dwójki.

Choć ta książka to historia Meg i Noah, to autorka nie zapomniała o rodzinie Sawyerów, wplatając ich losy pomiędzy wydarzenia mające miejsce pomiędzy głównymi bohaterami. Ba, spokojnie mogę napisać, że Melanie bardzo zaciekawiła mnie jednym wątkiem, ale obawiam się, że mógłby być on spojlerem, więc nic nie zdradzę. Bardzo na plus też przedstawienie sytuacji rodzinnej Noah, chętnie poczytałabym więcej o jego bracie.

Insatiable to ciepły, zabawny romans z przyjaciółmi w roli głównej. Zarówno Meg, jak i Noah dają się lubić, trzymałam za nich kciuki, złościłam się na Noah za to, że zachowywał się jak głupek, a nie facet z krwi i kości. Lekkie pióro Melanie Harlow, ciekawa historia i fantastyczny bohaterowie — miło było wrócić do Cloverleigh Farms po raz trzeci. Gorąco polecam!

Sawyer?” I said in disbelief. 
Breaking into a huge grin, she started to run. 
I was still standing there in shock when she barreled into me, throwing her arms around my neck. She smelled fucking fantastic. Feminine, sweet, delectable. 
“What are you doing here?” I asked, trying to hug her back without getting sweat or paint on her. “I thought you didn’t get in until Thursday.”
“I changed my ticket.” She let go just enough to smile up at me impishly. “I’m glad to see you too.”
I laughed. “I’m glad to see you. You just surprised me is all.”
“That was my plan.” She stepped back, and I figured my odor was probably repulsing her. 
“I stink, sorry. I went for a run earlier and I never showered. Then I painted the garage.”
“I never mind the smell of sweat. It means hard work.” She brightened. “Will you run tomorrow? I’d love to go with you.
“Sure. We can run tomorrow. I’m off again.”
“Great! Although I’m probably way out of shape.” She made a face. “My work schedule is so crazy, I don’t run as much as I used to.”
“You look great,” I told her. And it was true—she did look great. Maybe not quite as skinny as the last time I’d seen her, but the added curves looked good on her. My eyes wandered without my brain’s permission to her slightly fuller chest and rounder hips. Quickly, I attempted to look at her face again, but then my gaze lingered on her mouth. I remembered what it had looked like the other night in my fantasy as she’d wrapped her lips around my cock and moaned like it was the best thing she’d ever tasted. 
My dick twitched beneath my running shorts, and I cleared my throat. “You’ve got a favorite murder? Is there something I need to know?”
She glanced down at her shirt and smiled. “It’s a podcast about true crime. I’m addicted.”
“Never heard of it.”
A sound of exasperation escaped her. “You live under a rock! I can’t believe you’re still not on social media.”
“Yes, you can.”
“Okay, I can, but it makes it really hard to stalk you.”

“So come home more often. Talk to my face.”

Z twórczością Melanie Harlow spotkałam się po raz pierwszy, gdy sięgnęłam po jej duet z Corinne Michaels i od tamtego czasu sięgam po wszystkie książki obu tych autorek. Jeśli lubicie lekkie, romantyczne historie miłosne, to Undeniable jest dla Was!

Głównymi bohaterami tej powieści są Chloe i Oliver, w dzieciństwie się przyjaźnili, w młodości Chloe była zauroczona swoim przyjacielem, jednak z pewnych przyczyn zerwali ze sobą kontakt. Po latach Oliver powraca z propozycją, która jest spełnieniem zawodowych marzeń Chloe. Jak zawsze, jest pewien haczyk... Jaki? Dowiecie się, czytając książkę. 

Bardzo podoba mi się sposób, w jaki Melanie opisała relację tych dwojga. Jest bardzo dynamiczna, pełna emocji, między tą dwójką jest niesamowita chemia, oboje mają własne zdanie, trudne charaktery i nie pozwolą sobie wejść na głowę. Nie mamy tutaj do czynienia z szarą myszką i pewnym siebie, bogatym dupkiem, w tej książce dwójka głównych bohaterów to postaci z mocnymi charakterami, mające swoje wady i zalety. Oliver to mężczyzna, który bez problemu podbija kobiece serca, taki bohater rozkochuje w sobie czytelniczki i tak stało się też ze mną. Melanie po prostu wie, o jakich mężczyznach kobiety chcą czytać i dokładnie takich daje im w swoich książkach. 

Jeśli chodzi o fabułę, to Melanie posłużyła się kilkoma motywami, które dość często są wykorzystywane w literaturze dla kobiet, jednak włożyła w nie coś od siebie, wpakowała naprawdę sporo emocji i kompletnie mi one nie przeszkadzały. Sam pomysł bardzo mi się podoba, książki, w których bohaterowie byli niegdyś przyjaciółmi to coś, po co lubię sięgać. Melanie stworzyła naprawdę ciekawą historię dwojga ludzi, których niegdyś łączyła przyjaźń, powoli zdradza, co takiego wydarzyło się w ich przeszłości, dlaczego zerwali kontakt, jednocześnie świetnie rozwijając ich relację na nowo. Melanie Harlow, podobnie jak Corinne Michaels pisze bardzo lekko, prosto, pisze o życiu takim, jakie jest. Swoim bohaterom funduje dobre dni, ale i takie, w których nic nie wychodzi. 

Undeniable to ciepła, zabawna i romantyczna powieść o miłości, przyjaźni i rodzinie. Melanie Harlow napisała powieść, która wciągnęła mnie od pierwszej strony, którą czytało się niesamowicie szybko i przyjemnie. Jeśli lubicie lekkie, proste i niezbyt wymagające romanse to ta książka jest dla Was.

Fueled by pent-up lust and scotch, we stumbled into Oliver’s room and tore at
each other’s clothes. It was hot and rough and a little bit violent, as if we were furious
we hadn’t been able to keep our hands to ourselves and wanted to take it out on one
another’s bodies. We pushed and pulled and growled and grasped. We called each
other names and cursed viciously. We knocked over a lamp and ripped Oliver’s shirt.
When we finally exploded together, Oliver had me up against the door, and if our
yelling didn’t wake the entire floor, then the pounding must have. I’d have bruises for
days.
Afterward, we collapsed on the bed, naked and sweaty and exhausted.
“Oh my God,” I said. “I can’t believe we did that.”
“I know. Me either.”
“I think I pulled a muscle.”
“I think you bit me. Am I bleeding?”
I laughed. “No, but I hope you’re not seeing anyone. If you are, she’s going to
wonder about all those scratches on your back.”
“I’m not seeing anyone.” He paused. “Are you?”
“No.”
Neither of us moved for several minutes. When I caught myself falling asleep, I
sat up. “I should go.”
“Why? Just stay here.”
I looked down at him. “You want me to stay?”
“Yeah.” He opened his eyes. In the low light, they almost looked black instead of
blue. “Spend the night with me.”
I waited for it—the dirty joke, the excuse, the subtle dig—the reason he’d toss out
for asking me to stay. It couldn’t just be that he wanted me here.
But he didn’t say anything more. He just reached out and covered my hand with
his.

I looked at our hands for a moment, and a thousand memories came rushing
back. Some good, some bad, but all us. I felt close to him, and I didn’t want to leave.
“Okay. I’ll stay.”
“Good.” He took off his watch and put it on the nightstand.

Uwielbiam książki Corinne Michaels od czasu, gdy przeczytałam Consolation, sięgam po każdą z jej powieści. Tym razem autorka zaskoczyła fanów współpracą z Melanie Harlow. Dwie bestsellerowe autorki. Jedna książka. Byłam bardzo, ale to bardzo ciekawa, co z tego wyszło i ucieszyłam się na wiadomość, że dostanę możliwość poznania tej historii przedpremierowo. Powiem jedno — nie zawiodłam się.

Hold you close opowiada historię Iana i London — znajomi z dzieciństwa, Ian był pierwszym wielkim zauroczeniem London oraz starszym bratem jej najlepszej przyjaciółki. Na początku poznajemy krótki wycinek z ich nastoletniego życia, po czym następuje przeskok w czasie — oboje są dorośli, rozwijają swoje kariery, o obserwują, jak siostra Iana założyła rodzinę. W ich życiu wydarza się olbrzymia tragedia i jako rodzice chrzestni przejmują opiekę nad trójką dzieci. Przed nimi wielkie wyzwanie. Wychowanie dzieci należy do jednych z najtrudniejszych rzeczy na świecie, a gdy dodasz do tego otwartą niechęć, nieumiejętność porozumienia się i niezamknięte sprawy z przeszłości, masz gotowy przepis na katastrofę.

Podoba mi się pomysł na fabułę, takiego motywu nie spotykam często w literaturze kobiecej, więc byłam mile zaskoczona. Wykonanie także jest naprawdę na wysokim poziomie, byłam ciekawa czy uda mi się rozróżnić, które fragmenty pisała, która z autorek, ale poległam. To znaczy, wiem na pewno, że to Corinne umieściła Eliego Walsha w tej historii! Początkowo akcja toczy się naprawdę szybko, po to, by w kluczowych momentach zwolnić i pozwolić czytelnikowi na lepsze poznanie bohaterów, ich zamiarów, uczuć. Uważam, że to zróżnicowane tempo akcji było naprawdę dobrym pomysłem.

Jeśli chodzi o bohaterów, to oczywiście najlepiej poznajemy Iana i London. Bohaterowie bardzo się od siebie różnią, mają różne plany na przyszłość, inne priorytety, jednak gdy na ich barki spada opieka nad dziećmi, powoli się zmieniają. Autorki w ciekawy, a co najważniejsze, w realistyczny sposób pokazały tę zmianę, której tak często doświadczają rodzice. Relacja pomiędzy głównymi bohaterami to prawdziwa sinusoida, pełna emocji, uczuć i pragnienia. To, co dodało tej książce uroku i powiewu prawdziwego życia to dzieci i ich charaktery — nie sposób nie polubić tej trójki, zwłaszcza dwójki starszych, nastoletnich ludzi, którzy pokazują, że mają oczy i uszy i potrafią wykorzystać swój charakterek.

Hold you close to piękna, bolesna powieść, która porywa od pierwszych stron. To opowieść o życiu, o jego radościach i smutkach, o ludzkich wzlotach i upadkach. To także opowieść o rodzinie, która poruszy każde czytelnicze serce. Napisana lekkim, współczesnym językiem, pokazuje, że style tych dwóch autorek świetnie się ze sobą łączą. Gorąco polecam!!!
